Traffic Stop Leads to Poaching Case

December 30, 2014 – Officer Joey Roden of the Gainesboro Police Department conducted a traffic stop for speeding which resulted in the discovery of unlawfully taken white-tail deer. During a consent search of the vehicle, evidence of a deer was found, which prompted further investigation by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
Wildlife Officer Tom Gothard charged Roy Douglas Pippin, of Cab Anderson Lane, with Hunting/Killing Big Game in Closed Season, 1 Count; and Illegal Possession/Transport of Big Game, 1 Count. He will answer these charges in January 2015. The meat from two deer was seized and given to needy families.
